Roy H. Andersen (American, 1930-)

Ch. Kay's Don Feleciano-L (oil-1986)

AKC Museum of the Dog

Roy Andersen honed a natural talent upon the whetstone of formal study at the Chicago Academy of Fine Art and the Art Center School in Los Angeles. He achieved distinction in the crowded world of illustration art; producing work for such prestigious periodicals as National Geographic, Sports Illustrated and time. He also executed commissions for everything from Hollywood studios to the U.S. Postal Service.

The delightful qualities of the adorable Long Coat Chihuahua are portrayed on canvas, designed for the eight breed representation series of four stamps on the occasion of the American Kennel Club's Centennial in 1984.

George Rodrigue (American, 1944-)

PC Blues (oil-1998)

George Rodrigue was born in New Iberia, Louisiana, and began
to paint and sculpt during a four-month, childhood bout of polio. He went on to attend Art Center College of Design in Los Angeles as a Graphic Arts Major.

Throughout his career, Rodrigues was commissioned to do a number of important political portraits, including Ronald Reagan, Mikhail Gorbachev, George Bush, Bill Clinton and Al Gore.

He is probably most well known, however, for his series of "Blue Dog" paintings which have been featured in major advertising campaigns and numerous award-winning books. His original work is much sought-after by collectors, and Rodrigues is considered by many to be one of the great artists of his generation.
